Rainy days and Mondays

Monday. It was raining heavilly.

Went to elbi again for the sp demo.

Brownout sa ICS. Good thing I was able to borrow a laptop (yay! I hope I can borrow it again for the panel presentation) and I migrated the necessary files to run the program to it. All-in-all the demo went well. That laptop was a big, no, HUGE convenience.

It was still raining. Text message. "Punta muna kami DTRI". I decided to pay apt6 a visit.

I only stayed for a brief moment. Jaimee was there though. I hope I can go to the planned photoshoot.

Then the van came. Time for the trip back home. It was still raining. HARD.

Wacthed some stuff on the lappy while travelling. I watched To Heart episode 7 and SHaruhi episode 2(1). Damn... I watched SHaruhi AGAIN. It was still raining.

We bought some siopao on the way home. We said Special siopao (bola+asado) but the stupid vendor gave us PLAIN asado. At least it still tastes good.

Then, home.

It was still raining. And it was still a monday.

Canon in LB

I went to LB (Los Banos) this morning to meet with my adviser to talk about my sp presentation. Got there pretty early (around 10:15am). I decided to go to apartment 6. I knocked. No response. They probably have classes. I decided to spend some time in Abode then.

Then I met up with Crala. In Abode. While I was watching Chokotto Sister episode 1 on YouTube. Then we went to SU. We then met Ais. We stayed there for a while, discussing about stuff like fansubbing and my sp and such.

Then we went our separate ways (Blurry Ais and Crala the goldfish had classes at 1pm). I went to ICS. My Adviser wasn't there. Even though he wasn't there, I was informed of some important things about sp presentation scheduling.

After that, Ate Ides called me because she said she has something to ask. It turned out to be an endorsement for the next CAS dean. I chose via coin-toss (not really an elegant way to choose). After that, she mentioned to me that there's an ongoing on-site recruitment exam held by Canon and she recommended me to try taking it. I asked if they already started and she said that they aren't yet.

So I decided to try.

I thought it would be a short exam (it was just a one-sheet answer sheet, all multiple choice, around 30 items I think)...

Oh I was soooo wrong.

It took me more than three hours to finish the test. And boy was I sooooo sleepy, I can feel my pen floating in the air while "trying to write".

Basically most of the exam were problem-solving questions. Most of it were about program tracing and program analysis. There were base-arithmetic too. Kuri, I can feel your pain. Converting decimal to binary took most of my time. After converting to binary though, converting to octal and hex was a cinch.

After that, they distributed free snacks. McDonald's Cheeseburger Meal (Cheeseburger + reg. fries + reg. Coke). Not bad at all for "free snacks".

After that, I took some pictures of LB scenery.

The Scenery all BSCS students witness as they tread
the journey to go
home

The "secret path"

OMG! It's done! Never thought I would see this... EVER

Once upon a time... I always took this path... to sanctuary

All hail the Almighty Kwekwek Tower

Then I met Crala again (omg! huwatta coincidence! fate? probably not). She then dragged me along to get her thesis.

Thar she is... Crala the goldfish.
Camera shy?

After the journey, we decided to head to apartment 6 again, once known as the mushroom. Good thing Cyen and Sesu were still there, I already thought they went home. We stayed there until around 6pm and we were able to hear Cyen sing (nyahahahaha~~~). She was singing "Inner Universe" by Origa by the way. Congratulations on the Chorale.

Then we left. And then I went on a bus ride home.

The bus stopped just before the exit to SLEX. My nice sleep was disrupted. We transferred buses. After that, it was smooth riding.

When I unboarded the bus, I went to the nearest Mini Stop (which was just on the opposite side of the intersection) to grab a bite. Boy was I thirsty. One small C2 (the new lychee flavored) and a big One tea(strawberry flavored). I then left after the meal and walked home.

On the way home, I saw this shop that my mom was talking about. It has all sorts of things from hangers to arrows (not real though, too bad) to electronics to fans to kitchenware. Most if not all of it are surplus from japan. The items in the shop were interesting but that's going to be the subject of another post...

After window-shopping, I continued my walk to my homebase.

At the corner of the street where my home is, a new grocery/eatery/carinderia/pizzeria with matching Zagu stall just newly opened. I decided to stop for a while and check on the newly-opened block. Now I know where to go if we're lazy to cook for the day.

And then, home was just a few blocks away.

And that ends my journey to and back from LB.

... and that was a long post.

Kalungkutan I

A proposed sequence:
------------------

At doon, kami'y nagkita.

Haaaay hinihiling ko lang na sana biro lang ng pagkakataon ang lahat...

Kotae wa itsumo watashi no mune ni...
------------------
Hey, it COULD happen. We joked about Karekano once and then five years later we saw Yukino Miyazawa on local TV. We joked about Fruits Basket and 2 years later we saw people transforming into animals when hugged on local TV.

Bright-slapped by a giant fish

Steve Irwin is dead. To the people who don't know who he was, he's also called the "Crocodile Hunter"

And he kicked the bucket in a somewhat lousy way... death by giant fish... Not a shark but a sting ray...

On a similar note, the seiyuu for Bright Noa is also dead, due to a lung disease. It's old news, but still a loss.

This reminds me of the time when Rey Punongbayan and Ritsuko Okazaki died... what a waste.

Flooble Shmooble Froooble Trooble

The Flooble chat box is acting up. Sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's not.

Hope that's going to get fixed soon.

Dream Theater 08222006

Another weird dream. At least this one is connected to something... It was about the H.

It was about the SOS-dan engaging in more "extra-curricular" activities.

One was a survival game. Something like "The Amazing Race". Of course Kyon brings almost everything. The girls tread through rough terrain and mud. They obviously win. And yes, there's an 'antagonist' that sets-up the game so that SOS won't win. but they still did.

One was a tennis game. Can't remember exact details. All I remeber were scenes flashing.

And lastly, a Wrestling match. I can clearly remember the word "nWo" in it.

It was like extra chapters for Rampage or Boredom. As to why those activities, beats me.

I hope Suzumiya-san doesn't hear about this. Kyon is probably going to kill me.

--------
The day before that I had another weird dream as well. Actually two non-related dreams. One was about a place in the countryside(my dream hinted me that it is set somewhere in Baguio or something).

It was about a hospital (colored blue) where there was an unusual patient confined there. The patient was purpotedly able to control the weather (I remember her, yes a she, controlling lightning and being able to generate earthquakes).

What struck me about this dream was that I can clearly remember big blocks of solid soap (colored golden-yellow, kinda smells like... Dial or something) being used in the washrooms and lavatories (sinks). As to why I can clearly remember that, I don't know.

And then, a name. "Celia".

The other dream was about a musical institute (music school). Nothing really special about this dream, except that the students are playing "God Knows".

And they were using classical instruments for it. And also, I remember the appearance of a pipe guitar (electric guitar made from steel pipes). Before their "God Knows" performance, they were playing some classical music. I didn't remember the tune.

Hmm... maybe a hangover from Culture Evo.

--------
Minor rant: animax dubbed Kamichu

They actually showed last week's episode again (now dubbed). There was a message at the bottom saying that they were not able to show the english version last week due to technical problems.

So last week was a fluke then.

My wish was not realized.

GOD KNOWS!!! YEAH!

(Got home from CulturEvo...)

I'm so so happy. I got to listen to a very very good live rendition of "God Knows". YEAH!!! SOS-dan BANZAI!!! Long live SOS. MABUHAY ANG SOS!!! Nyahahahaha~~~

That made me forget the TM Revolution songs...

I wonder how they got a score of it... Widowed? Or did they study episode 12? Does S.O.S. have a copy of the score?

The song before it was very good as well. It was the OP for Jigoku Shoujo. At first I thought it was "Shell" (OP of Witch Hunter Robin) but the chorus was the one that made me identify it.

That was the only S.Haruhi-related event that happened... but that made me really happy. Simple happiness.

I kinda liked the Ouran group cosplay as well ^_^. Too bad I didn't get to really see the individual cosplays...

Babae ka pala

Babae ka pala. Hindi ko alam
Ang buong akala ko talaga'y lalake ka
Minsan kitang nakita at ako'y biglang nag-akala
Ngunit nakita kitang muli at ako'y magkamali pala

(I'm really sorry I misjudged you. I really don't know who you are, but you also probably don't know who I am either, I'm just disgusted at myself for prejudicing so hastily... It was my fault.)

Ka - mi - chu !

Watched Kamichu!(aka Teenage Goddess) on Animax a few moments ago. I enjoyed it and I'm going to follow it from now on.

The thing is, it was in japanese audio with NO subtitles. And I can understand it~~~ OMG. I watched it without subs but I still managed to get what they were talking about. Other viewers probably wouldn't be able to understand it though.

I hope animax won't dub Kamichu. Better if they sub it instead. Wishful thinking maybe, but I can still hope...

I guess middle-school gods aren't exempt from the brigade... Poor Yurie

I was originally thinking of posting about the junked impeachment complaint (again... *sigh*) but I changed my mind because I was pissed.

*sigh* There is no hope for this country.

O and random ramblings

Outstanding
Overconfident
Obnoxious
Omnipotent

Only one name comes to my mind, and there are no "O"s in it.

So much for Sorcerer (Stabber) Orphen eh.

-----------------------------------

I keep forgetting my dreams lately. It's really frustrating. I really enjoy my dreams no matter how weird and surreal they can get.

I'm kinda glad that finally alternative fuels are getting attention nowadays. Took them long enough. I hope that a drop in oil prices won't wane interests for developing this potentially vast resource (especially here, where we have a lot of agricultural potential).

*Sigh* cosplay. Never imagined doing it. Never... *Sigh*

Dream Theater 07312006 and the mystery island

I had another odd dream last night.

It was a dream of me waking early and doing household chores. I was to do laundry, mop the floor and wipe the curtains with a wet rag doused in soapwater (that in itself is weird already). When I was wiping the curtains, I was woken by the voice of my mom telling me to wake up because we had a lot to do that day. So I did household chores, doing laundry, mopping the floor and wiping the curtains...
...
...
...
"Parang pamilyar yung amoy ng sabon na to ah... san ko ba naamoy `to?" I thought. Then I realized that my day somehow repeated and when I was about to tell somebody about what I realized... I woke up again at the sound of my mother's voice and doing the chores again. After that, we were to eat at the table for lunch...
"Pag nawala ako, ibig sabihin umulit nanaman yung araw ko..." I told my tito who was also eating...

And then I woke up at the sound of my mother's voice calling me... It took me around five minutes to realize that this is real... and that was just a dream. I was relieved.

Kinda like... groundhog day huh?

Well I always have weird dreams. I sometimes draw inspiration from them. I rarely have 'normal' dreams - dreams that area bout everday life and everyday places. I usually have dreams about places I don't know, with people I don't know where I'm like a watcher watching the events go by. I guess this one's a bit different.

----------
On another note, Lost had it's second season ender. I was watching it on axn-asia. Bitin parin as usual but at least it was not as bad as last season's ender.

And something strange happened... Axn-asia's website suddenly dissapeared... I hope it's just some server mishap... or maybe they were swallowed by the mystery island.

Maybe a Lost x Haruhi crossover won't be a bad idea after all... Let's see who's more powerful, Haruhi-sama or the island...

When the adults are away the kiddies will play

(Warning - parental guidance(?) is advised)

I'ts been a while since I discovered that Kodomo no Jikan has been licensed. I still can't fully accept it. WHAT THE F*** ARE THOSE AMERICANS THINKING? Titles like these aren't meant for the average consumer.

So what is Kojika(Kodomo no Jikan)? It's a story about a teacher who was just newly hired in an elementary school. He handles a grade-3 class after their previous homeroom teacher left "due to sickness". The manga is about his everyday struggle to teach the children.... things.

Now why am I so annoyed at Kojika's licensing? Usually, when I hear of of a title being licensed, I just let it be and hope that somehow an underground group still release the title. But this time, it's different. Not that because I follow it or anything(just picked it up and read it when I was bored). But it's because manga like these should NOT be officially licensed to North America. NEVER. EVER. As Akatsuki-manga's division L puts it, "If you don't like stories about little girls, and I mean stories ABOUT little girls, stay away from kojika". It has a mature rating (explicit sexual content) but look at the story...

Here are some examples of what I'm talking about(scanlations from akatsuki-manga):

Kiss your freedom goodbye sensei
What are kids talking about these days eh?
Be careful what you wish for
That's some motivation to study hard

I can't post the images here, since they're not "safe"...

*sigh* Manga and anime could have a really really bad reputation because of acts like these by those american licensing companies... And I thought those americans were pretty sensitive when it comes to these topics...

Magicalcrap, ExS Deep Striker, ready to rock and roll

I am the mission.
You're a mecha pilot!

You might be a sub-category of bishounen, but this hardly matters since you don't notice anything that didn't feature in the last edition of Guns'n'Ammo magazine. You have been trained since an unfeasibly early age to be a machine of death and destruction. If you've noticed an annoying girl following you around and repeatedly getting into danger and requiring rescue recently, run like hell - she's probably your love interest...

Which generic anime character are you?

... That was kinda expected...

One and a half month to go before my self-set deadline...

Buildup

The time is nearing when rushwork for my SP (Special Problems) begins. I will start seriously working on it when I finally get the Visual Editor for Eclipse up and running.

S.Haruhi ends today with the 14th episode... awww... Its over... I hope they make a second season since the books haven't been fully covered yet.

I'm probably going to visit LB this thursday for some official and unofficial business. I have to renew my ID (finally after 7 looong years...) if I want to borrow papers from ICS library again. And I will... I HAVE TO.

Good luck to me and all the people working on their theses and similar crap.

Fack Yao

He won... again...

Which means more fackyao endorsements... more commercials... more interviews... more fackyao crap...

I don't hate the guy but I'm certainly getting fed up about the endorsements and commercials left and right with fackyao in it...

It would have been interesting if Larios actually won instead of Fackyao.

Maybe "Fackyao for President" isn't such a farfetched idea after all...

Peaches and Crap

With all this crap about the everyday filing of impeachment cases going on, it's starting to turn ugly.

Well the common-sense solution to counter last year's junking due to technicality is repitition. It's just like RAID systems... repitition is a key factor. Its better to have mirror copies of your files somewhere, the more mirrors, the better, so when one mirror crashes, you can easily restore lost data. Parang ganun din sa impeachment ngayon... "Kung ang dahilan nila e maraming kaso tapos pipili lang ng isa, e di gawin natin a PAREPAREHO lahat para kung ano man yung piliin nila, e yun din yon."

I understand the fact that they really want this impeachment to be ACTUALLY heard... I mean, last year was a big disappointment, a big farce, a reflection of how low the philippine government has sunk.

Arrrgh kainis...

I was planning on making this post longer... but I'm so irritated that I wont be able to.

Haruhi x Haruhi, Arturia, and the 8-legged stallion

Watching Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu first, hearing the name "Haruhi" again (in Ouran) gives a weird feeling... a really weird feeling. But good thing "the other Haruhi" does not disappoint. Being voiced by Maaya Sakamoto is really a plus, she does a good job of it. Hrm... now that I think of it... Fujioka Haruhi and Suzumiya Haruhi share a lot of similarities. They both have brown hair and "brown" eyes, they both went from long to short hair, they're both tomboyish (not really sure about Suzumiya-san though...), and both are members of weird school clubs.

Fate/Stay Night is now over. Haven't watched ep24 yet though... Saber-chaaan...

I hafta watch Suzumiya Haruhi ep12... real bad...

Sleipnir's condition is still undetermined... so far it's "dead" but I need to make sure. Having said that, I need to replenish the stuff lost due to this misfortune (Ais-sama... sige na... pleeeease...).

(Hmm... baka 666-day after-effects... wag naman sana...)

I... need... Host... Club... and Higurashi... and Petopeto... and Utawarerumono... WAAAAAAAH!!! I WANT MY HARUHI BAAACK!!! and School Rumble 2nd... and the artbooks... T_T

Full Metal Alchemist was a very good series. The plot twist towards the end just made me go "WTF". I haven't seen a good twist like that for some time now.

Genshiken was... um... um... very good if you're an otaku but probably really bad if you're not. There's a lot of otaku-related stuff in there that anime-manga-game newcomers simply won't understand. I was laughing all the way because I get most of the show. And you can't really watch Kujibiki Unbalance without watching Genshiken first.

Summer's gonna end soon... so as my leeching sessions... sad... but that's reality.

And by the way, nothing happened to me on 666-day.

Once in a hundred years

Today is June 6, 2006 or in MM/DD/YY format, 06/06/06. I'm not superstitious but this is an event that happens only in a hundred years... the next 06/06/06 will be on 2106 and I probably won't live long enough to see it.

I'm sure there's a lot of superstition regarding the date today, just like every friday the 13th.

So far no evil or ominous things are happening to me. Not that I believe in that crap.

Where have all the flowers gone?

The song popped in my head while I was watching the All is one, one is all episode of Full Metal Alchemist. I'm not really sure if Brothers Four was the original because some people say the Peter, Paul and Mary was the original artist for this song.

On a not-so-similar note, sleipnir (my external HDD) died this morning. The file system was destroyed but nothing that a good recovery program can't handle. I'm in the middle of restoring the drive as I type this.

God and Interactive philosophy

(2 posts in a day? Man I must be bored.)

I visited Celsus' blog recently and he had a link to various activities that you can do that deals with philosophical and logical ideas. Some of the interesting tests I've taken were the Battleground God test and the Morality Play test. The Battleground God test is about if you can survive the intellectual battlefield with your beliefs in God and the Morality Play serves as a reflection on how you would decide given situations becasue of your moral values.

In the Battlefield God test, I got no direct hits but I bit two bullets. The questions are interesting and they will make you think... a lot. Although I agree in general about the analysis, I feel the need to discuss one idea. It's about the non-existence idea. In my opinion, you cannot say that something does not exist by mere lack of evidence. That is, you cannot say that it does not exist just because it isn't there but you have to prove it's impossibility, that is, that it is impossible for it to exist or that it cannot exist. Oh well, that's my own gripe.

I can't really understand much of the result I got in the Morality Play quiz. But it still gave me insights on how I see things.

The number you dial is not yet in service...

Last week, I lost my phone... My mobile phone... It was a Nokia 3310. I had that phone for four or five years.

At first I just thought I left it somewhere so I called the people who stay at the places I visited that day. All of them had a negative response. That's when I finally realized it. The unthinkable has happened. For the first time in my insignificant life I lost my phone. It never happened to my previous phone.

I'll never forget the times we shared together. In good times and bad times... Those ringtones I composed using the composer, the list of names in my phonebook, the thick shape... the four-line message area, the circular contours... okay it's starting to get creepy.

Anyway, I already bought a new phone. It's not one of those new and high-tech models that has different features like a digicam, an mp3 player and whatnot, it's just a Nokia 1100. Yes, a Nokia 1100. Cheap, effective, efficient(it's faster than phones with color screens), it has a composer as well, and a flashlight. Damn! A Flashlight. Bet those other models can't beat that. And I would rather have a phone, digital camera and mp3 player as separate items. That way, if you lose one, you don't lose them all... at least theoretically.

I'm still getting used to my new phone and so far, it works fine with me. Good thing it has a composer for those times when I'm utterly bored.

Melancholy and the Infinite Weirdness

Well, not really infinite, but there's so much of it in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu or "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" it becomes mind-numbing.

First of all to note is the "first" episode. What the staff did for this episode is what I can say "risky". I'ts good for people who have some background about the series but for people who are totally new, it could be bad. These people might not understand what's going on at all... a lot of "Huh?"s and "Wha???"s can dissuade potential followers of this series.

And then the episode order. Yes, the episode ordering...

It's totally messed-up. I mean... episode 2 is actually episode 1, episode 4 is actually episode 7 and so on... And I don't know where episode "1" falls in this lineup. This chaotic and confusing episode ordering made me make a guide n the episode listings which I will post if and when I can upload the text file.

Overall, the series is good because of the comedy especially those that revolve around Kyon's endless ranting.

Since there are a lot of blogs out there blogging about this series, I would not bother to do a by-episode blog. I don't do that stuff in the first place anyway. But too bad I can't post screenies...

Off-peak

Congratulations on the First Filipinos to reach the summit of Mt. Everest. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Kudos.

The only sad thing about this mountain climb is that it became a war between the networks. Anchan was right about the fact that it was kind of sad that it became 2 competing teams instead of one unified Filipino Expedition.

It just shows how we are so unwilling to unite even at the face of a common goal. Crab mentality, crab mentality...

Lapid for President

... of the Republic of Makati that is.

It's just a rumor at the moment but once it is confirmed, it could mean disaster if he actually gets elected as Mayor.

No english for Makati anymore? I hope not since a lot of embassies are situated in Ayala...

Kagebunshin?

I'm having a problem logging in my Yahoo! Messenger. A moment ago, I was logged in but suddenly I was logged out. I tried logging in again but I can't get through and the message I get is "you have been logged out because you have signed in another computer or device".

I already changed my password to kick the intruder if it was the case but still the same thing happened. Now I'm pretty sure that this is a server-side problem. I'm probably still logged on the server.

I just hope they do something about this SOON.

Words of the traitor

I was watching "The Gospel of Judas" last night and it was pretty interesting...

Not that I'm already aware that the four gospels aren't the only gospels out there. The early days of christianity was pretty dark, with a lot of gospels floating and a lot of people being brutally killed.

It kinda makes sense that Judas can be seen as not the traitor, but the one to fulfill God's plan. After all, if it wasn't for Judas, we wouldn't be in all be here being christians...

Better late than never

And I wasn't able to say a decent goodbye when he was still there... *sigh*

To the one and only Gelosas, the original hprovider... Goodbye my friend. I'd like to think that I was your friend. Sa lahat ng kalokohan nating pinagsamahan. Man I'm gonna miss you. I'm gonna miss you a LOT.

Farewell good friend. It was nice meeting you... I'm sure our paths shall cross again.

Scanner problems

My scanner is still dead. Can anybody help?

It goes like this:

I installed the drivers for my scanner in a different partition. One day, the said partition crashed. That just means that everything is eradicated...

Now I try reinstalling the drivers for the said equipment, the installer is still looking for that damned directory where I once installed the driver. Of course it's non-existent already. I tried making a dummy directory but to no avail... I tried the uninstaller that I got from HP (that's the manufacturer) but still... none.

Arrgh.

I already tried contacting customer support... I think I'll call again in the future.

Help anyone?

The equipment in question is a Hewlett-Packard all-in-one printer/scanner/copier HP PSC1315.

I appreciate any help.

The universe is in disarray

Yes, that's right! There's definitely something wrong with the universe...

Because I have a blog! Nyahahahaha! The one who swore won't have a blog has one!

Anyways, more coming soon.
